The hammer and pick emoji shows a crossed hammer and pick or chisel. Most versions show a realistic representation of the tools, with metallic heads and black or brown handles. The Samsung version, however, shows a white silhouette of a crossed hammer and pick on a lime green square. Traditionally, the symbol has been used to represent mining. In the absence of a better alternative, it is sometimes used to represent the hammer and sickle of communism. Some British Premier League football teams – such as West Ham – use the symbol as part of their heraldry and the emoji is frequently used on social media platforms in support of people’s favorite soccer star or team.
